CULTURAL HERITAGE
With around 15 million people, Guatemala is home to 24 principal ethnic groups with the indigenous population accounting for almost half of the country's population. This ethnic and cultural diversity resulted in a rich cultural heritage that is unique in the region. In fact, the Maya of Guatemala is the only indigenous culture that constitutes a majority of the population in a Central American republic.
RACISM & OTHER PROBLEMS
Although the government of Guatemala has adopted the UN declaration on the rights of Indigenous people, these groups face the highest rates of structural racism and social exclusion leading to disadvantages in terms of health, education, employment, and income, especially true for indigenous women. This makes Guatemala the country with the worst gender equity gap in the Americas, where nearly 80 percent of the Indigenous population lives below the poverty line.
MAIA is an organization committed to supporting young indigenous women in the long term to overcome challenges and achieve their goals. These women are faced with challenges in economic autonomy, independent family planning, and overall participation in society.
FOUR KEY GOALS
Stepping in to fill a void in rural Guatemala that needs to be filled with programs for sustainable development, MAIA has several initiatives that help achieve its goals: economic autonomy, planned motherhood, lifelong learning, and empowerment of others.
INITIATIVES FOR CHANGE
The MAIA Impact School gives young women a holistic education focused equally on academics, culture and identity, socio-emotional development, and family engagement. MAIA is part of several national and international networks to ensure that their collective efforts have an impact on systemic change in Guatemala. Through its strong network of support, MAIA has managed to respond to the pandemic and its challenges, securing access to critical information, emergency food relief, and learning opportunities.

As of today, we deliver our products only in Europe. We offer Standard DHL GoGreen Delivery (Free for Germany on all orders above 29 € and the European Union on orders above 49 €). We will process your order within 1-3 business days. During high season please note that processing your order may take longer.
SHIPPING COSTS
Shipping costs will be calculated during check out. Depending on the destination country, the costs for our apparel products may vary between 4.95 € and 16.95 €. We offer reduced shipping costs for print products only (up to 4 prints). In this case the cost may vary between 2.95 € and 5.70 € depending on the destination country. PICK-UP
We offer the option to pick up your order directly from our Berlin Office during regular office hours (Mo - Fr, 10 - 18 hrs). To do so, please choose the option accordingly during check out. Please contact us in advance at which time you plan on picking up your order: contact@guamayu.com
RETURNS
We accept returns within 14 working days from the delivery date. The return is free of charge for orders from the following countries: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Sweden, Switzerland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, United Kingdom. To return your products from this countries, please use our Returns Portal.
If you wish to return your order from a country not mentioned above, you have to pay for the shipment unfortunately. To initiate this return process, please send us via e-mail (contact@guamayu.com) a statement that you wish to withdraw from our contract. You can use the sample withdrawal form in our Refund policy, which is not mandatory.

You can also return the products to our Berlin Office by yourself, if you used the pick-up option for delivery or if you prefer to return the products in person. Just inform us about your wish to return the products via e-mail. To do so you can use our withdrawal form example which you can find in our Refund policy.
